Founded in 1922, the initial focus of the State Farm was auto insurance for farmers. Over the following decades, the company expanded into other lines of business. It also expanded operations beyond its home state of Illinois and into other states, eventually covering the entire country. Today, State Farm is arguably the best known personal insurance company in the U.S., but what isn’t arguable is that they’re the biggest. State Farm is a solid, reliable insurance company that offers reasonable rates and straightforward coverage options. They’re a good choice if you are looking to bundle and want a combination of personal service along with good value for the money.
Lines of Business:
While all companies offer a range of home insurance discounts, it's hard to judge any individual discount's value in a meaningful way. For one, the discounts are typically a percentage off the base price, instead of the whole policy.
What does this mean?
Your best bet is to directly discuss your particular situation with an agent to make sure you're getting all the discounts that you may be eligible for on your auto policy. For reference, we've listed all the discounts we believe State Farm has below in order to help determine which ones may fit your profile (though keep in mind that they can vary by state).

When a homeowner has not had any claims, it's a sign to insurers that they are less likely to make one in the future. With this lower risk profile, insurers can offer savings. The look-back window is almost always five years, but some insurers only look back three years or offer the discount on a sliding scale.

Fire/Burglar Protective Devices
Levels of protection (and corresponding savings) vary primarily on the way these systems report trouble. The security systems that report to a call center, or directly to the police/fire department, provide the largest discounts.

Hail/Impact Resistant Roof
Repairing hail damage does not come cheap. Some roofs are designed to resist hail impact damage more than others. The standards for which roof materials qualify differs by the insurance company. In general, wood roofs are not eligible.
