From its roots in 1925 as a Pennsylvania auto insurer, Erie Insurance has grown to become a multi-line insurance company, offering auto, home, business and life insurance through its network of more than 10,000 local independent insurance Agents. Primarily serving drivers residing in the eastern states of the U.S., Erie prides itself on their customer service and competitive coverage options that include some unique features. One of Erie’s more interesting offerings is the “Erie Rate Lock” feature, which ensures that your car insurance premium won’t skyrocket — even after a claim. Your premium only changes when you make a change on your policy, such as adding a new vehicle or changing your address.
Lines of Business:
While all companies offer a range of car insurance discounts, it's hard to judge any individual discount's value in a meaningful way. For one, the discounts are typically a percentage off the base price, instead of the whole policy.
What does this mean?
Your best bet is to directly discuss your particular situation with an agent to make sure you're getting all the discounts that you may be eligible for on your auto policy. For reference, we've listed all the discounts we believe Erie has below in order to help determine which ones may fit your profile (though keep in mind that they can vary by state).

Advance Quote / Early Signing
One of the easiest discounts to score with some advance planning. Customers can often save simply by quoting and buying their homeowners policy awhile (typically at least seven days) ahead of the policy actually going into effect. Keep in mind though that this discount tends to only apply to the first policy term, increasing overall cost after year one.
Age of Insured
Different age groups are more or less risky about different things when it comes to homes. Generally the older the customer, the larger the discount, though the discount sometimes decreases again in higher age groups. Insurers tend to look at whoever is the oldest of the named insured when calculating this discount.
1% to 15%
Earthen homes are exposed to fewer losses (windstorm, hail, etc.) than a conventionally-built home. Therefore, a discount may be applied, generally provided at least two sides and the entire roof (other than atriums) are below ground level.
10% to 10%
